Dear__________________:

I am currently seeking a challenging career opportunity in a (INSERT TITLE OF ACTUAL TARGET POSITION) capacity and am submitting my resume for your review.  In advance, thank you for your time and consideration.

As demonstrated in the accompanying resume, I recently graduated with a Master s Degree in The Decorative Arts and Design. I have researched all areas of 20th century fashion and textiles and have in-depth knowledge of American, European and Japanese designers, including Claire McCardell, Hattie Carnegie, Oleg Cassini, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen, Halston, Jeanne Lavin, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miake and Yohji Yamamoto. I travelled to Paris and visited Versailles, Louvre and Orsay while attending classes in 19th and 20th century fashion. During my Master s program, I also completed an in-depth critique of Rebecca Arnold s book, The American Look: Fashion, Sportswear and The Image of the Woman in the 1930s and 1940s New York.  I researched and prepared an exhibition at FIT Mixing of Tradition and Technology: Japanese Designers in the Twentieth Century where the works of Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Junya Watanabe, Reiko Sudo and Yoshiki Hishinuma are displayed and reviewed together to compare the Japanese ideas of beauty, garment construction and textile innovation

In addition to my strong academic credentials, I have over 11 years of experience in the fashion design industry. Specifically, I am an accomplished product manager, fashion merchandiser and team leader with a track record of success in product development. I have overseen all aspects of the design and execution of products for Tawil Associates and Talbots Kids as well as worked professionally with Vivienne Tam.

As an employee, you will find me to be a driven team player committed to supporting you in achieving your objectives through superior performance.  I am confident that I could be a valuable asset to your firm, and look forward to interviewing with you in the near future.

Sincerely,
