i am highly interested in being considered for the computer scientist position available.  with an upcoming masters degree in applied computer science, a bachelor of science degree in information technology, united states army-sponsored university-level course work, six years of military service with the army and over five years of private sector information technology experience, i believe i can make a positive contribution in this position.  to acquaint you with my qualifications, i am submitting my resume.  in advance, i thank you for your time and consideration.

as demonstrated in the accompanying documents, i have been serving in numerous information technology roles, including my current assignment as computer scientist/software engineer.  the responsibilities for this position include oversight of all software development, including the design, launch and maintenance of new systems and databases, software upgrades, and developing and implementing all backup systems and procedures.  i work closely with our client base, providing offsite end-user support for web-based software.  i have been involved with the web application of the gps action item management interface (gps aimi), upgrading from ms access to sql server 2000.  the redesigned application reduced technical support inquiries from more than 500 annually to two for the entire year.  additionally, i developed a system for streamlining the procurement and transfer requirements for gps equipment, reducing required time by 300%.

i also held responsibility for oversight of the migration of active server pages (asp) to asp.net applications, resulting in upgrades in performance, scalability and usability of the serialized tracking and authorization request system (stars) for the key data processing (kdp) loading and installation facility (klif) program.  in support of this, i designed a klif administrator web application, which improved klif administrator productivity 15%.

prior to this position, while pursuing my formal education, i served as a web developer charged with utilizing xhtml 1.0, asp.net 2.0, ms access 2003, javascript, css code and adobe photoshop in developing and upgrading websites for use by small businesses and teachers/instructors.

earlier, for the united states army, both in reserve and active status, with a designation of information systems operator/analyst (74b20) and (74b210) respectively, i was closely involved with all aspects of the combined joint task force 180 (cjtf180) website as well as installing and maintaining software, hardware, lans and wans during service in the republic of korea
