w Maintain complete accountability for the Risk Management Department for FedEx Ground Inc, FedEx Ground Ltd., FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx Supply Chain Services and FedEx SmartPost (collectively FedEx Ground ) in the areas of Liability Claims, General Insurance and Workers Compensation.

w Consistently review risk management programs to meet corporate standards for quality, cost effectiveness, and timeliness. 

w Oversee the training, coaching and mentoring of the 20 person Risk Management Staff; set performance benchmarks for managers, monitor performance and identify areas for additional training opportunities.

w Build a strong network of brokers and vendors, manage the vendor selection process and develop long term business partnerships to optimize buying power of FedEx Ground.

w Monitor and manage Liability Claims, General Insurance and Workers Compensation risk exposures through an analysis of required insurance coverage, self-insurance and new financial products.

w Maintain P&L accountability for department, monitor and update business plan and meet requirements for all governmental compliance requirements.

w Oversee the Independent Contractor Insurance Program that provides a company facilitated plan to provide Workers Compensation, Occupational Accident Insurance, Non Trucking Liability, Physical Damage, and UM/UIM Insurance for the FedEx Ground Independent Contractors and Independent Service Providers.

w Utilize the risk management information systems (RMIS) to gather relevant information required to meet reporting requirements, support insurance company applications and forecast claims activity based on historical data.

Key Accomplishments

ð  Create and implement the FedEx Ground Accident Reporting Center that operates 24/7 for reporting and adjuster assignment on Liability Claims.

ð  Design and execute the OCIP (Owner Controlled Insurance Program) for $600MM construction of 10 new Hub Distribution Centers which provides General Liability and Workers Compensation to all construction vendors on the project.

ð  Create new programs and products for external or internal use in consultation with broker/insurers/TPA's, and risk management consultants and evaluate for potential use to fulfill the needs of FedEx Ground.

Section Manager Liability Claims Department (1998-1999)

w Oversaw day to day management for 3 Liability Claims Managers, 1 Liability Claims Administrator, 1 Liability Claims Coordinator, and 3 Clerical Support Staff; led employee development efforts, performed annual evaluations and identified opportunities for additional training as needed.

w Oversaw claims activities including  the establishment of reserves, claims investigation, litigation management, and settlement authorization; reviewed claims to ensure that reserves offered sufficient protection for the corporations assets, and communicated with Senior Management in the event of significant reserve increases.

w  Monitored serious claims and claims in litigation, formulated litigation strategy, participated in settlement conferences and all trials.

w Managed claims caseload of 630 files and oversaw litigation processes in 13 northeastern states for defense of wrongful death, bodily injury claims, property damage claims, and cargo damage claims.

w Maintained current knowledgebase of government regulatory requirements and interacted with 150 local independent adjustment agencies to resolve claims.

w Led negotiation processes with claimants, insurance companies and attorneys to resolve claims prior to litigation, supervised all litigation preparation and participated in all phases including discovery, witness preparation, legal research, drafting of legal documents and participation at trial.
